Founder Features: Amanda Olson from Intimate Rose
Dr. T recently had the pleasure of interviewing Amanda Olson, president of Intimate Rose. Check out their interview here!
Okay, so let's start with, who are you?
I am the president and chief clinical officer of Intimate Rose where I develop pelvic health products and education for people who have sensitive pelvic and sexual health issues.
Why do you do what you do?
I am passionate about empowering women and men with pelvic health issues including pelvic pain, incontinence, and pre and post-partum issues. I have been the healthcare provider listening to people share their heartbreaking stories and I wanted to create new means for them to overcome their issues so they could live the life they want.
Was there anything in particular that encouraged you to start Intimate Rose?
I wanted to help everyone, not just the patients in my clinic- all the people!
Where did you go to school?
I earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Pacific University, and a Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Regis University, graduating as a member of the Jesuit National Honor Society. I hold a Certification of Achievement in pelvic floor physical therapy (CAPP-PF) through the American Physical Therapy Association, and the Pelvic Floor Practitioner Certification (PRPC) through the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Institute. I am also a certified Stott Pilates instructor and RRCA certified running coach.
Do you teach?
I teaches internationally on various pelvic health topics including pelvic floor dysfunction in runners. I have also written several physical therapy continuing education courses, newspaper and magazine articles on pelvic floor dysfunction, and running, and authored the book Restoring the Pelvic Floor For Women.
Do you have any advice for people who might be curious about your products?
Don't wait to start your journey today. Small steps little by little add up, and you will reach your goals! It is also helpful to partner with a pelvic health physical therapist to assist you on your journey.
Who are your products really for?
Our mission is to help people of all genders, backgrounds, ages 18-110.
Is there a product you're most proud of?
We have received many emails from people saying that the Vibrating Wand was literally the only thing that has helped them. Some said it was a "total game changer" and helped them to be able to have sex again for the first time in years.
What are you looking forward to doing next?
I hope to break down the barriers to people getting the help they need, and to end the taboo nature of pelvic and sexual health products. Pelvic health and sexual health are HEALTH.
